A reflection on home and the brilliance of daybreak
MCO principal players come together for this program of string quartet masterpieces that vividly evoke the composers’ worlds. Although not given by Haydn, the nickname Sunrise is perfect to describe the way the quartet opens like the first rays of light on a perfect spring day.
Dvořák, so deeply connected with his Czech homeland but also influenced by his journeys through America, brings together these inspirations to create one of the most well-loved string quartets of all time.
Between these two works MCO is proud to present the world premiere performances of Noongar violist and composer Aaron Wyatt’s first string quartet, a homage to the land of his people.
