On Tour

CASTERTON Fri 28/02/20 7:30PM Casterton Town Hall

Ah, Italy—and Italian music! Join us to start our season with a passionate and sunny musical adventure. Of course, there is Vivaldi, his concertos packed with smiling Venetian brio. We also take in the world of Verdi, with a virtuosic and dramatic string symphony.

After MCO Principal cellist Michael Dahlenburg leads off the touring party with a sparkling concerto, we will be joined by our guest travelling companion, guitarist Slava Grigoryan. Catapulting to international recognition while still in his teens, Slava has performed with leading orchestras across Australia and the globe. He joins MCO to perform the first Giuliani guitar concerto, one of the Classical icons for the instrument, and a concerto by Vivaldi.

VIVALDI Cello Concerto in C major RV399
HANDEL Concerto Grosso in F major Op 6 No 9
GIULIANI Concerto No 1 for Guitar and Orchestra in A major Op 30
VIVALDI Concerto in G major RV413 (arr guitar and string orchestra)
VERDI String Quartet in E minor (arr string orchestra)
