French Arias

The second half of the nineteenth century saw an extraordinary flowering in French music. Composers including Chausson, Debussy and Fauré transported audiences to previously unimagined worlds of sound, mysterious in their beauty and subtle charm. In this concert, we bring this iconic music to life in orchestral splendour, including Debussy’s Clair de lune and Chausson’s Poème.
Described by ABC Classic FM as “one of the foremost sopranos of her generation,” Greta Bradman’s luminescent soprano is the ideal vehicle for lush songs by Debussy. It’s also the inspiration for new songs by Australia’s leading composer of music for voice, Calvin Bowman.
This concert will tour Victoria, supported by the Victorian Government through Touring Victoria and Regional Arts Victoria.
