To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Beethoven, two very different works, both with the distinctive Beethoven stamp.

The third piano concerto bristles with fiery gusto. Lauded for her “fearless performance” by the New York Times, pianist Aura Go returns to MCO to perform this revolutionary concerto. For contrast, the Romance for Violin in G major sees Beethoven in a contemplative mood. Our Artistic Director, William Hennessy, performs the solo in this rarely-performed cameo.

Despite being unfinished, Schubert’s Symphony No 8 remains one of the most ambitious and moving orchestral works of the early nineteenth century.

BEETHOVEN Romance in G major Op 40 (arr string orchestra Keith Crellin)
