A Feast of Music 2019 – Daylesford Chamber Music Festival

A Feast of Music 2019

Join us at the heart of one of Australia’s most captivating regional destinations for a long weekend of extraordinary music and convivial hospitality. In its seventh edition, the 2019 Festival features three chamber music performances, an orchestral concert and a musical dinner at the renowned Lake House.

(6 SEPTEMBER, FRI 6:00pm)

Daylesford Town Hall

Two rare works for violin and piano, full of fiery drama & aching beauty, begin our 2019 festival. Arthur Benjamin’s 1924 Sonatina reveals meticulous harmonic craft from one of our country’s finest compositional voices, while Grieg’s second Sonata rouses soaring spirits from intimate Norwegian folk elements.

Daylesford Town Hall

Richly inventive, written with great charm and humour, the early Septet remains one of the composer’s most enduring chamber works. Taking its cues from Mozart’s divertimentos, Beethoven makes the form his own, with bold use of the clarinet and a warm, symphonic palette of sound.
